Meet Shani Aslan - our Israeli "Shliacha"- emissary!

Hi, my name is Shani Aslan. I was born and raised in Tel Aviv. I studied at a secular school and majored in French and biology. Ever since I was young I danced, mostly modern and jazz.

The scouts were also a big part of my childhood. As a child I used to go twice a week to scouts activities and when I grow up I became a counselor and eventually a unit head.

After high school I was drafted to the IDF, where I served two years as an unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV`s) instructor. My army service made a great impact on me and I was lucky enough to serve with amazing people and on top of that to earn a profession.
Right after the army I worked for a while in a kinder garden and on the summer of 2017 I was a counselor in a Jewish summer camp in Malibu, California.

I traveled for few months in Central America, and when I came back to Israel I started a job in a UAV industrial company where I work as a simulator instructor.
After more than a year working in a big company, I felt like I need to do something more meaningful that will contribute to my community and not only to myself. When I heard about the Shlichut it seemed like something I could do that will be very satisfying and meaningful and I would probably enjoy doing.

I see the Shlichut here in Pensacola, as an amazing opportunity to get to know many new people and to learn about myself and about the Judaism. I hope that I could make the community feel a little more connected to Israel and to get to know Israel better, by getting to know me.
