Meet Avishay Yanay
Avishay is our Israeli "Shaliach"- emissary!
Hi, my name is Avishay Yanay. I was born and raised as an orthodox in a city north of Tel Aviv called Netanya. I studied at a yeshiva with secular studies from seventh grade through twelfth. After completing high school, I earned a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Shapira College as a program of the IDF, where I served for four and a half years, finishing as a First Sergeant Major. Finishing short term Shlihot last summer made me realize how powerful our impact can be as Slichim. That is the reason I chose doing a long term Shlichot. After completing my journey in South America and another international summer camp, I took a flight to Pensacola.
I'm enjoying hiking, scuba diving, running and playing instruments.
The most important thing for me and the biggest advantage is that I have a real chance to reach every person in the community sharing my own story, get to know his family and his Jewish identity. Representing Israel while doing so is a realization of a huge dream for me.
In the future I would like to specialize in education.

Last week I went to The International Festival
in
Mobile, thousands of people went trough the booth, and not a single one of them knew any basic facts about Israel. One of the kids actually asked me if Israel really
exists. Glad that I had the opportunity to expand their knowledge about Israel, and this is just the beginning.
Our very own Henry Boyle, finished his Last baseball game for this season, and he can't wait for the next one. Did a great job at the game buddy!
Our next
Cafe Israel is coming up, soon! And this time, you get to take part in the making of it! Our very own local Israeli's,
Razi Atuar,
Efrat Harari, and
Avishay Yanay will talk about their personal Israel stories: what part of Israel they are from, the differences between them, and how their Israeli roots affect their lives. The
Pensacola Jewish Federation would like
your participation by asking questions. What would
you like to know about being Israeli? You can write your questions here in the comments section. Then come join us at Cafe Israel to hear the answers! *** your question will be our guideline for the prevention so please go head and write your questions today! ***
